Considering the Eve

For as long as I’ve been covering Atlantic City entertainment — that’s 36 years, if you’re keeping score — I’ve had my own little holiday writing ritual. To give people time to consider their end-of-the-year celebration options and maybe buy some tickets as stocking stuffers, the second column in December has usually been dedicated to a roundup of all the acts that will ring in a new year from the stage of a casino showroom.

Cinematic Stocking Stuffers

As a film critic, I’ve always loved giving the gift of movies to friends and family during the holiday season. Some are obvious choices — the terrific Guardians of the Galaxy was released this week — but I also love surprising folks with sleeper hits that aren’t as well known, or Blu-Rays with great extras.
