Here is a current list of the fights coming to Atlantic City casinos and Boardwalk Hall.
August
Saturday 8/27/11
Joe Deguardia’s Star Boxing brings boxing to the Tropicana Hotel & Casino Showroom on Saturday, Aug. 27. For the main event, tough and tested Vinnie Maddalone will battle with West Virginia native, Mike Sheppard, 19-12-1, 9 KOs, in a 10 round bout.
In a co-attraction on the card, Atlantic City’s own, Shamone “The Truth” Alvarez, 21-4, 12 KOs, makes a return to his hometown when he takes on Christopher “Kid Kayo” Fernandez, 19-13-1, 12 KOs, of Salt Lake City, Utah. Alvarez and Fernandez will meet in an 8 round affair.
Tickets are priced at $30, $50, $100 and $200 and can be purchased by logging onto starboxing.com or call their office directly at (718) 823-2000. Tickets can also be purchased at the Tropicana Box Office at (609) 340-4000 or at tropicana.net. Tickets are also available at all Ticketmaster outlets or by logging into Ticketmaster.com.
Doors open at 6:30PM, with the first bout beginning at 7:30pm.

If you saw Cuban featherweight sensation Yuriorkis Gamboa’s 4th round destruction of Jorge Solis back on March 26 at Boardwalk Hall, you undoubtedly left the arena like everyone else…impressed. Well mark your calendar for Saturday, Sept. 10 as Gamboa, 20-0, 16 KOs, makes his anticipated return to the Adrian Phillips Ballroom at Boardwalk Hall when he faces the very tough and upset minded Huntington Park, CA resident, Daniel Ponce de Leon, 41-3, 34, in a scheduled 12 round war.
Ponce de Leon, a former World Boxing Association (WBO) Super bantamweight champion, looks to serve as a real test for the sky rocketing Gamboa, who was recently stripped of his featherweight title, but still perceived by many as the best in the division.
This exciting fight card is promoted by Top Rank, in association with Golden Boy Promotions, Arena Box U.S., Caesars Atlantic City and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, logging into Ticketmaster.com or calling 1-800-736-1420. You can also purchase ticket at the Boardwalk Hall box office. Tickets are priced at $250, $100 and $50.
The first bout of the evening will be at 7pm ET/PT. The Gamboa vs. Ponce de Leon main event fight will be shown live on HBO’s World Championship Boxing broadcast at 10:30pm ET/PT.

On Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, Dibella Entertainment brings Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez back to the Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall main arena in what is being called “Noche de ‘Maravilla’”, which means “Marvelous Night.”
Sergio Martinez, 47-2-2, 26, who is 2010’s fighter of the year, will be defending his Ring magazine/WBC Diamond belts against the undefeated current European middleweight champion, “Dazzling” Darren Barker, 23-0, 14 KOs, from London, England.

Unfortunately for Martinez, instead of having a windfall of competitors beating down his door, he has become one of boxing’s most avoided fighters.
Both stories include a pair of huge pop stars collaborating — or at least talking about collaborating — at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.
