While Boardwalk Empire picked up another Emmy on Sunday night (the HBO original drama series picked up 12 nominations, but there was only one first-place win — in the Directing, Drama Series category, Tim Van Patten won) — the second episode of the third season aired on HBO.
In episode 26, "Spaghetti & Coffee," Eli Thompson is let out of jail, and gangster Gyp Rosetti (pictured) takes over the fictional New Jersey town of Tabor Heights.
Meanwhile, we meet the crooked Gaston Means; Chalky White and his family are focused on; and the U.S. government, the topic of pre-natal care and the weakening booze supply chain during the third year of Prohibition all factor in.
So does Nucky's new mistress, Billie Kent.
If you loved the music from the first two seasons of Boardwalk Empire — the soundtrack's first volume won a Grammy earlier this year — expect another volume soon. The songs have been excellent in the first two episodes, including the closing credits version of "Lovesick Blues," performed by Pokey LaFarge.

According to the Hollywood insider publication Variety, HBO "will bring back the 12-episode third season of Boardwalk Empire on Sept. 16 while New Orleans saga "Treme" is back for 10-episode third season on Sept. 23.
