A collage of some of the many festive happenings that took place in Atlantic City during the ushering in of 2013.
The close of 2012 for Atlantic City was a busy one, offering a positive kick-start to the new year. With several casino-wide parties; performances by the likes of Tiësto, Jane’s Addiction and the Village People (among others); the sold-out Life in Color bash (top two pics) with Steve Aoki at Bader Field — the first of what promoters say will become an annual event due to its success — and local restaurants and taverns jumping, Dec. 31, 2012 was one for the history books.

New Year’s Eve falling on a Tuesday is bad timing in some people’s perspective, but if your NYE resolution is to try to be more optimistic, then view it as the culmination of five straight days of partying starting Friday, Dec. 27.
New ownership plans an ambitious, but brief bill of fare, characterized as “distinctly American. A place where a lot of different things happen.”
The Life in Color NYE event was such a success that the promoters are already thinking about staging a similar event at the former airport over the July 4 holiday.

Bader Field will host a 2013 New Year’s Eve event that will paint the town red, green, blue, and yellow.
No East Coast town does New Year’s Eve better than Atlantic City and its environs (yes, New York City, that includes you), so here are a few suggestions for those who have not yet gotten around to planning out their big night.
Jane’s Addiction always takes it up a notch for special shows. “And whenever we play New Year’s Eve, well, that’s a significant event for our band,” says drummer Stephen Perkins.
" I’m the baseball that kind of like crashed through the window on the side of the house and fell into the living room."

I’ve been a crafty film critic over the decades, which means I have learned to avoid movies that look horrible in the coming attractions. Of course some movies featuring major stars and high profiles simply can’t be avoided.
