More properties are structuring their social schedules and nightlife scenes around pools, and not just during the summer months.

A common Atlantic City catchphrase today is “game changer,” which refers to those people, places or things that recast conventional thinking. Change can be born from creative ideas, achieved by the desire to keep things fresh or, as in the case of A.C., thrust upon it by a poor economy and ever-increasing gaming competition elsewhere.
Back in 2006, when the economy was still relatively stable, Harrah’s thrust change on the area nightlife scene when it unveiled The Pool — a 172,000-square-foot entertainment complex beneath a 90-foot-high glass dome.
The focal point of the indoor tropical oasis was, of course, an 86,000-gallon heated pool surrounded by Jacuzzis, private cabanas, bars and plenty of indoor and outdoor deck space. It became, and remains, an immensely popular social spot in A.C. year-round, with its Pool After Dark concept the place where local partiers often intermingle with celebrity guests every Wednesday (industry night), Friday and Saturday night (including a 12-hour, multi-function shindig the Sunday of Labor Day weekend hosted by hip-hop artist Nelly).
This coming Friday Night Live party (Aug. 10) at The Pool features DJ Earwaxxx and 10 Surpreme with a live performance by singer-songwriter Chris Rene. On Saturday it’s DJ Vito G and DJ Ed Smooth teaming with a live performance by DJ Pauly D of Jersey Shore TV fame.
The Pool’s success has not gone unnoticed, and lately the party-around-the-pool nightlife principle seems to have caught fire. Harrah’s new marina-district neighbor, Golden Nugget, converted what for years had been rooftop tennis courts at Trump Marina into the new H20 Pool + Bar, which morphs from a quiet retreat for hotel guests by day into a lively and vibrant social scene by night (which seems to be a prevailing theme).
The H20 Pool + Bar offers eight cabanas for rent equipped with plasma TVs, refrigerators and couches, 12 daybeds for rent, Jacuzzis and fire pits (allowing a sizable portion of the property to remain open year-round), and DJ entertainment by night.
Summer is the prime season for hosting festivals and the Golden Nugget is taking part in the tradition with a trio of indoor/outdoor festivals in August and September.
What's happening at Atlantic City casino lounges, nightclubs and dance clubs each week
Grammy Award winning artist, crowned the "Princess Of Hip-Hop & R&B,” Ashanti hosted an exclusive party and sang at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City on Wednesday, May 9.
Impeccably dressed in a tailored suit and a fashionably wide and colorful tie, Howard Weiss straddles the top two steps leading onto the small stage at The Pool at Harrah’s. The all-weather tropical hangout has been transformed from its daytime persona as a haven for the hotel’s middle-aged hotel guests into its pulse-pounding nightclub configuration.
Though the tables had a soft opening last month, Diddy will officially open the nightclub gambling area at a NYE2 Party
