Under new owner Dennis Gomes, Resorts Casino Hotel may have plans to theme its entire operation in a 1920s motif — capitalizing on the Prohibition-era A.C. publicized by HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and it’s own period-appropriate art-deco architecture — but it’s latest promotion definitely screams 21st Century.

From now through Christmas Day (Saturday, Dec. 25), all of Resorts’ Facebook and Twitter followers can cash in on special deals and discounts during its “12 Days of Christmas” promotion. The deals started Tuesday, Dec. 14, and thus far have offered 10 percent off room rates the first day, and a $19.20 (get it?) scalp massage with hot-oil treatment at The Salon at Resorts the second day. For future promotions, go either to Resorts’ Facebook or Twitter pages, find out what that day’s deal is, then call 1-800-772-9000 and mention either “Facebook” or “Twitter” if you’re interested in the offer.

“Facebook and Twitter have become a standard means of communication, and it is important to us that we utilize every channel to reach our guests in ways that are convenient for them,” said Aaron Gomes, Resorts executive vice president of operations, in a media release. “Promotions like the 12 Days of Christmas will reward our followers for their commitment to Resorts and provide a chance for them to experience aspects of the resort they may be unfamiliar with. We look forward to creating unique promotions and actively using social media as a way to communicate with guests.”

Upcoming “12 Days” Facebook and Twitter specials will include dining deals at Capriccio, Asian Spice, Gallagher’s, The Buffet, The Burger Bar and 25 Hours, plus services, room offers and more. Additionally, on Christmas Day Twitter/Facebook followers will have a chance to enter to win one of 12 rooms at Resorts that will be given away on Tuesday, Dec. 28. Room winners will be announced through e-mail.

Gomes Resorts Savior?

Asking me to name my favorite Atlantic City casino is like asking me to name the best show I’ve ever seen. It can’t be done. For reasons that are as professional as they are sometimes personal, I’ve always maintained that each casino has one quality that sets it apart from the others. Yet none have — and probably never will — achieved “favored” status with me. It’s like me asking you to name your favorite kid. But there is one property that will forever have a very special place in my heart, and...
