Inspired by HBO's new series 'Boardwalk Empire,' acweekly.com presents a multi-episode web video series on Atlantic City's history from the Boardwalk and Nucky Johnson to the entertainment and the African-American Experience.

Each Friday acweekly.com presents a new episode in the "Atlantic City History: Conversations & Storytelling" web video series, inspired by HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" series, and featuring the conversations on six selected topics between Atlantic City historians Vicki Gold Levi, All "Boo" Pergament, Pinky Kravitz, Ralph Hunter, Jim Waltzer and Israel Posner.

The episode themes — which are each broken into two parts — include stories about the Atlantic City Boardwalk, the African-American Experience, Entertainment and Nightlife, Sports in Atlantic City, Gambling (Legal or Otherwise) and Nucky Johnson.

As of Nov. 1, 2011 five episodes are ready to watch, including an "Intro" video featuring esteemed local historian and collector Allen "Boo" Pergament, which is "Episode 1." (Click here to watch video)

You can watch all the videos as well as read interviews, behind-the-scenes stories, hear music from the 1920s era and see photos from the Atlantic City premiere parties on our Boardwalk Empire Notes page.

"Episode 2" begins the two-part series on the man behind HBO's fictional "Nucky Thompson" — Nucky Johnson.

Feasibility Update on the Atlantic City Experience

Club Harlem Exhibit Planned for New Smithsonian Museum

On Tuesday, Feb. 22, groundbreaking will commence on the newest Smithsonian museum in Washington, D.C. The Smithsonian’s 19th museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, will occupy a five-acre site on Constitution Avenue between 14th and 15th streets N.W., between the Washington Monument and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
