On Saturday, July 24, from 6:30-8:30pm, fasten your seatbelts because the Atlantic Heritage Center in Somers Point is presenting An Evening of Bluegrass Music, back by popular demand and featuring the Bennett and Clayton families, regulars at the legendary Albert Hall in Waretown (Exit 69 on the GPS).

The outdoor concert, featuring traditional bluegrass, bluegrass gospel and old-time country music, is free, but donations will be accepted. The rain date for the event is July 25.

The public is invited to bring lawn chairs, beach blankets and food items, but alcoholic beverages and pets are prohibited. Waretown’s Albert Hall has been carrying on the bluegrass tradition for more than three decades.

According to the Atlantic Heritage Center (907 Shore Rd., Somers Point), “More than 35 years ago Dave Clayton and his friend, Gary Bennett, began playing bluegrass music at Albert Hall in Waretown. ... The new generation of the Clayton and Bennett families’ bluegrass players evolved over years of gathering together for their mutual love of bluegrass.”

And they’ve been playing together now for 18 years. For more information, visit atlanticheritagecenternj.org.
