This year's Show House

Each year, the Ruth Newman Shapiro Cancer & Heart Fund takes a beautiful home and turns it into the RNS Show House at the Shore, its annual exhibition of interior design rooms. For the first time this transformation takes place in an Ocean City home, “Windsong on Wesley,” a charming 4,500-square-foot Dutch Colonial house that has been meticulously restored.

Located at 1501 Wesley Ave., the home’s wrap-around porch provides a warm welcome to the house and its many lovely architectural details including original fireplaces, New Jersey red cedar floors and whimsically shaped windows. For a $25 fee that goes to charity, design fans can tour the home.

The RNS Show House is open to the public now through Sunday, Aug. 15 from 10am-5pm daily with extended hours until 8pm every Wednesday and Thursday. The proceeds from this year’s design exhibition will be donated to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for their RNS Digital Mobile Mammography Van, to the Cancer Center at Shore Memorial Hospital for specialized IMRT equipment and to the Cape Regional Medical Center’s Cancer Center for their specialized IMRT equipment.

In addition to the house tour there is a Thursday morning “Seashore Conversations,” a lecture series featuring nationally renowned authorities in the fields of interior design. The lectures take place at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1001 Central Ave., beginning July 15. One Show House ticket can be used for admission to all five lectures. There is also a “Meet the Designer Night” every Thursday, 6-8pm, at the Show House, and The RNS Mobile Mammography Van will be at the Show House 11am-7pm every Wednesday.
