If you’ve ever been bored by a movie that is way too long, get ready for a film festival that eliminates that problem. At 7pm Friday, July 30, Resorts hosts the Santa Barbara Minute Film Festival, sponsored by the Downbeach Film Festival/Atlantic City Cinefest.

This sold-out event in Santa Barbara, Calif., has been brought to the east coast at Resorts Screening Room. Tickets are $10, available at the door or by calling 823-9159. Proceeds benefit both festival organizations.

The festival features 50 films by filmmakers and directors from around the world, with eight countries and nine states represented. The program includes thrillers, documentaries, experimental works, animation and horror, each with a running time between 60 and 90 seconds. With intermission, the program lasts 90 minutes.

Festival founder and director, Betty Johnson, a Ventnor native said, “I’m thrilled we have had so many requests to show the films again. To be able to showcase the efforts of these skillful filmmakers in my home area is quite remarkable.”

The SBMFF “Best of the Fest” winner was Yongwa Chot’s animated piece, We Are All Here. Chot is from New Jersey and expects to be at the festival along with other filmmakers.

“We are looking forward to a partnership with Santa Barbara Minute Film Festival to complement the offerings of the Downbeach Film Festival/Atlantic City Cinefest,” said William Sokolic, Downbeach founder and director.
