ATLANTIC CITY — The pulse of Atlantic City's heartbeat just got a jump-start.

History was made on Monday, April 2, as Revel, Atlantic City's 12th casino — and much, much more — officially opened its doors to the public after six years of planning, building and conceptualizing.

The energy inside and outside the sprawling property was palpable all day and into the night as guests marveled at the beautifully designed areas inside the state's second tallest building.

Revel executives and staffers also celebrated — albeit a little on the tired side after a long day's (not to mention months' and years') work — and agreed it was a very exciting day not only for Revel, but for Atlantic City and the state of New Jersey.

The day started with a sunrise toast — with Revel staffers and CEO Kevin DeSanctis on hand — and from then on people and more people flooded in and out of Atlantic City's latest attraction, several of them guests staying at the new resort during its preview period, which will lead up to the official Memorial Day weekend grand opening.

Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly debuted its burlesque show — featuring live music and burlesque dancing — around 8pm and the band the Raveonettes performed at The Social at 9pm.

“Cheesy girls writhing on the floor -- wow -- just what AC needs -- NOT!

Was at Revel today -- not impressed. Slot machines for amateurs, lots of bars, cold atmosphere. I'll stick with Borgata -- classier looking and no girls "dancing" above a bar. Really tacky.”

“I'm SOOO surprised at the girls they cast... what a disappointment. As they had auditions in NYC, Atlantic City and every point in between, I can only imagine there were many more beautiful, more talented / better-dancing and less 'hard' looking women to better compliment the 'classy' look Revel is going for. Had hoped for so much better...”

“The place was huge with tons to see and do, and we didn't pay a cover. The slots were alright, but there was plenty of entertainment with bars and dancers everywhere. The roof deck was pretty cool, but super windy. The best part was ” social”. It had live band and a cool atmosphere. The royal jelly club was popping, but only really late at night. All in all though, I would definitely go back”

“Royal Jelly is NOT Burlesque. It is cheesy strippers. They are no more talented or unique than in any strip club. Zero class. And it's a STUPID name. Why does this guy who keeps opening and closing nightclubs keep putting his name in them? Generally people who are not successful at something don't try to brag! This whole concept is a silly waste of time. No fun....”

“This place is amazing. As a club critic and brand developer myself, I have to give Mr. Ivan Kane a lot of credit. Royal Jelly brings a show to the nightlife that the East Coast has never seen. The very talented performers/dancers are just that... Talented. Get it right people.... It's a show not a strip club! The venue is upscale and the girls put on a great show! Drinks and bottle service is pricey but worth it. One of the best nightclub concepts to ever hit Atlantic City !”
