Spotlighting a multimillion-dollar renovation project in an off-the-wall way, Bally’s presents the ‘Battle of the Room-Trashing Bands.’

In these days of tough economic times you’ve got to find ways to save greenery any way you can. Bally’s Atlantic City may be sparing no expense to make its historic Claridge Tower as appealing as possible to prospective guests, but to save a few bucks on clearing the existing space, bonus points should be bestowed to Bally’s for originality.
This Friday, June 25, Bally’s will engage the services of a few folks with a global reputation for wrecking rooms, and in fact enjoy the task so much they’re willing to do it free of charge.
As many may realize, rock stars have the same sort of penchant for wrecking rooms that the world has for soccer (except maybe the United States), so Bally’s put together the inaugural “Battle of the Room-Trashing Bands” from 1-2pm on Friday. Later that night, the same two groups whose services are to exploited for demolition — each wrecking a separate room under the watchful eyes of contest judges — will also perform four- to five-song sets, including New Politics (9-9:45pm) and Sinners Saints (9:45-10:30pm), at Bally’s Wild West Casino’s Main Stage.
“The event itself was conceptualized as a tribute to the heritage of the Atlantic City of years past, when [its slogan] was ‘America’s Favorite Playground,’ with grandeur events and shows of that time,” says Aliza Rabinoff of DKC Public Relations. “The historic Claridge Tower, which dates back to 1930, is undergoing a multimillion dollar renovation in multiple phases, hence the idea of trashing rooms. The new rooms on property are called Ruby Rooms and have a great, sleek new style.
“Additionally, Don Marrandino, the president of Eastern Division Harrah’s Entertainment, is a big music fan. His background is in music and entertainment events and he loved the playfulness of this idea, especially giving a nod to a past music era when rock-and-roll artists tended to take creative license with hotel rooms on a regular basis.”
The Claridge room carnage will take place on 10th floor of the tower starting 1pm, and following a noon media reception of the band members wreaking havoc. Celebrity guest judges will include 94 WYSP-FM (Philly) radio show host (and former Partridge Family star) Danny Bonaduce, Bam Margera of both Jackass movies and the MTV show Viva La Bam (and, like Bonaduce, a product of suburban Philadelphia) and Sebastian Bach, the former frontman for the heavy-metal band Skid Row. The judges will be on hand to announce the winning band at the end of the second set Friday night.
Additionally, fans can go to the Facebook page of the Wild Wild West casino to vote for their favorite trashing band from 4-6pm Friday.
Other details in the $50 million room redesign project include oversized, glass-enclosed showers; larger counter space in the guestroom bathrooms; a "spa-like atmosphere," and more high-tech gadgetry.
