GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — The Bay Course at Seaview Resort, located in Galloway Township, will again be hosting the 54-hole ShopRite LPGA Classic, which will boast an impressive $1.5 million purse including $225,000 to the winner. The tournament, which runs from May 28-June 3, will feature 144 of the best female golfers in the world, and will be televised live on the Golf Channel. Last year’s champion was 26-year-old Brittany Lincicome.

This year’s Classic will be donating 100 percent of its advance ticket sales to benefit its charity partners.
Since the LPGA started tracking charitable contributions in 1981, the cumulative charitable donations from the LPGA and its tournaments has totaled more than $200 million, $24 million of which comes from the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
To date, there are 18 charity partners of the 2012 ShopRite LPGA Classic, including AtlantiCare Foundation, Richard Stockton College of New Jersey Foundation, and Community FoodBank of New Jersey - Southern Branch.
In association with Tanger Outlets The Walk, the official ticket sponsor of the 2012 event, the ShopRite LPGA Classic is offering three spectator ticket options for the final three days of the
tournament (June 1-3): Good Any-One-Day Grounds Ticket for $15; Weekly Grounds Pass for $30; and Weekly Clubhouse Pass for $60. The Weekly Clubhouse Pass will provide access to Seaview Resort, which provides additional dining and hospitality options. Tickets are now available at the ShopRite Web site.
The first four days of the tournament (May 28-31) are free to spectators, and all children under the age of 17 will also be admitted free any day. Service personnel including military, fire, and police will also gain free admission with the proper ID.
There are more than 230 ShopRite supermarkets throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland. Through the ShopRite Partners In Caring program, they have donated more than $27 million to 1,700 charities and food banks since the program started in 1999.
In order to make this tour successful, ShopRite is asking for 1,000 volunteers to help with various aspects of the event.
If you are interested in volunteering, you are required to buy an official $40 package that includes one official volunteer golf shirt; choice of hat or visor; free parking; Tournament access all week; two Good Any-One-Day Grounds tickets; breakfast and lunch during days worked; and any person working a minimum of three shifts receives a round of golf on the tournament course for just one $25 cart fee.

The return of the LPGA ShopRite Classic in 2011 doesn’t have quite the excitement that was generated last year, when the popular tournament returned after a three-year absence. Still, the LPGA players love the Seaview Bay Course and once again, most of the top female golfers in the world will participate in this year’s event.
