ATLANTIC CITY — Not one but three versions of pop-music superstar Britney Spears performed in Atlantic City on Saturday night, Aug. 6.
At the same time, both Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga had twins performing in town, too.
For starters, the first shows of the second run of Bally's Legends in Concerts tribute-show revue, featuring a new cast that includes Utah native Katie Murdock singing as Spears and Coty Alexander as Lady Gaga, included Britney's and Lady G's twins (for two shows, at 7:30pm and 10pm).
Then there was the real deal — the glitzy 2011 Femme Fatale Tour, being held a few buildings down the boards at Boardwalk Hall with mega star Britney Spears and rising talent Nicki Minaj.
About 30 minutes till the end of her set, which included one encore, Spears announced to the capacity crowd at Boardwalk Hall that a "special guest" was in the audience.
It turned out to be Lady Gaga, who, unfortunately did not join Britney on stage, instead taking in the show from a folded chair added to the raised sound-tech space in the middle of the enormous hall.
She wore dark shades and waived to the crowd; when Spears mentioned her name the place literally went gaga.
Same for Spears too, but even more so for opener Minaj.
During the latter's dazzling, colorful and high-energy opening performance, the audience sang along with every one of the pop-hip-hop singer's songs and piercing screams followed her every move on the large stage, which featured a catwalk stretching out into the audience.
Both Minaj, Spears — and all of their male and female dancers — utilized the catwalk extensively throughout the concert.
When Minaj — all decked out in neon, including a sharp pair of bright neon-pink rain boots — took the stage at the end of Spears' set to perform the song "Till the World Ends," the pair's mega-hit collaboration on Spears last album, 2011's Femme Fatale, her sixth overall No. 1 album on the Billbaord charts, the screams were possibly as loud as when the Beatles played the room in 1964.
Expect Minaj to headline Boardwalk Hall-size arenas within a year. She had the entire hall in her hands.
This Saturday, Aug. 6, pint-sized versions of pop stars Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj will be performing a “scaled down” version of the Femme Fatale Tour scheduled for Boardwalk Hall (7pm) that same night. While the actual Britney and Nicki are collaborating on a first-ever show at the Hall, a little further north on the Boardwalk their mini look-alikes Terra Jole (aka “Mini Britney”) and Tonya Banks (“Mini Minaj”) will be taking the stage together after the concert at Sammy’s Beach Bar at Bally’s (11:30pm and 12:30am), and at Bally’s Wild West Casino’s Mainstage lounge (around 1:30am). The two mini performers have worked together in the past to remake the song “Telephone” — a duet between Lady Gaga (played by Jole) and Beyonce (Banks, see video below). In an interview with AllHipHop.com, the two mini-performers said they hope to meet the actual Spears and Minaj some day. “We would love the opportunity to meet Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj, and if we did we’d thank them for inspiring us everyday,” said Mini Britney. “They are hard workers and I would tell her that I’m a big fan, and I’d say thanks to her for giving the world great entertainment and joy.” As well as...
For a while it appeared that Spears was about to tank since she seemed to make one poor choice after another. In 2007 she wrote on her Web site that she hit rock bottom and then she lost custody of her children.

Avril Lavigne Where: Borgata Event Center When: Friday, March 28, 8pm How Much: Sold Out Like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and a number of other currently popular female recording artists, Ontario native Avril Lavigne has faced the unenviable task of growing from adolescence to adulthood under the glare of the public eye. When we first met Lavigne, she was a free-spirited 17-year-old, touting her debut album, Let Go, and its all-over-the-radio lead single, "Sk8er Boi." The media immediately tried to pigeonhole the self-taught musician with an appropriate label -- "punk rock" and "the anti-Britney" were the most popular -- but from the start, Lavigne disavowed them all, preferring to let her music speak for itself. And speak it has. Six years later, the Grammy-nominated, Juno-award-winning singer-songwriter's career is still going strong. Over the course of three multi-platinum albums, Lavigne has enjoyed nearly a dozen hits, including "Complicated," "My Happy Ending," "I'm with You," "Girlfriend," "Don't Tell Me" and "Hot." Now 23 years old, married (to Deryck Whibley, lead singer/guitarist of pop punk band Sum 41), and more focused than ever, Lavigne is performing Friday at the Borgata in support of her current album, The Best Damn Thing....
