On an outing with the homies, the last thing you'd expect to see is your own grandmother flailing her arms to 'This is 50' at a 50 Cent concert.

But that's what happened at the packed House of Blues at Showboat's Music Hall this past Friday, June 25, as G-Unit came to Atlantic City to take over the showroom, and people young and old came out to have a good time.

After a surprisingly timely appearance, 50 opened the show with "So Disprespectful" and "Ayo Technology" and the crowd went nuts!

Although the bass was a little overwhelming, newer joints like "Crime Wave," "Baby By Me" and "OK, You're Right" blazed through the Music Hall. Although reverting to show standards like asking the crowd to "put your hands up" and having the crowd wave them back and forth many times throughout the night, Fiddy and his G-Unit crew definitely kicked off the summer right for concert goers who enjoy classic, hardcore, grimey hip-hop.

There were hundreds of screaming drunk (and hot) girls in the room, and 50 had no choice but to bang some songs for the ladies ( "Magic Stick" and "Candy Shop"). As the room got steamy, 50 emptied five bottles of Voss on the crowd and women threw their bras back onto the stage.

The crowd lit their doobies when the "Weed n' Coke" beat dropped. 50 also performed older tracks — from his three prior studio albums— which were all real crowd pleasers. This writer would have liked to hear "Gangsta's Delight" from 50's new album and more from Get Rich or Die Tryin'. "I'll Whoop Ya Head Boy" would have really set the place on fire!

There was an uproar when Lloyd Banks took the stage to perform "Beamer, Benz, and Bentley" as 50 went offstage for his third outfit change of the night.

And what would a concert be without an encore performance?

Atlantic City had 50 come back out on stage, after an already 80-minute set to finish out the show with an extra three songs, closing with "In Da Club." "Do You Think About Me" and "Hate It or Love It."

After three T-shirts, two fights, and one fedora, 50 showed that he works hard for his fans. All in all, the show turned out pretty dope.

If you missed out on the night, the Self Destruct Tour is still going strong and you might be able to catch 50 back in the city later this summer.
