Harouna ould baba better known as papis kimmy and independent rap artist with ten years plus experience. Papis Kimmy was born in Nouakchott, Mauritania which is located in the northwest of Africa.
He is referred to as a “Pioneer” of Mauritanian rap music. His first CD, “Mani Zani”, in 2001 was the first music CD ever to be released in his country. His second CD, “Nebeghi Mauritanie”, was released in 2003. The music on these CD’s touched on current issues in Mauritania with the message to the younger generation of brotherhood, equality, and justice. His songs are performed in English, French, and Arabic; also his country’s native languages Hasaniya, Wolof, and Peular.
