“Naming rooms helps to differentiate the different pieces of the property, and also brings back some of the nostalgia that the people of Brigantine seem to love,” says Reynolds. “We’ll have live music on the Deck through September, weather permitting, then we’ll move it to just inside. We can move things around in the main dining room and have a full band for certain occasions.”

With city approval, LeCompt’s five-piece band played a gig on Laguna’s beach Wednesday night, Aug. 29, which Reynolds says he hopes to make into a regular midweek event starting next summer. This fall he hopes to do a 4-7pm weekday happy hour with discounted drinks and a tapas-style menu, and weekend football specials on Saturday for college and Sunday for the NFL.

“About five or six days into the demolition of this place it was a disaster, and I brought my wife in to see it and she said, ‘I think you’re in trouble,’” says Reynolds. “Then when we were done she was like, ‘Oh my God! I can’t believe it.’ I told her I hope we get the same reaction from everybody else, and we really did.

“You get an idea in your head and want to do something, but you never really know if it’s going to fly or not,” he adds. “It’s been humbling to see the reception from the community, the customers and everybody. In fact it kind of took me back at little bit in the beginning.”
