Hip-hop superstar Jadakiss came down to Atlantic City last Saturday night (June 26) and showed so much love that he wound up inviting almost the entire crowd onto the stage with him as he performed a dope 20-minute set.

The show, which was located at Bayside Resort in West Atlantic City, started a few hours late but, the opener, Apollo, hailing from the city of Camden, made the wait not so bad.

Apollo performed his new single, "Call It Quits," which is a lyrical slap-in-the-face to new-age rappers who are "bubblegum rappers." He looked very young, but had the flow of a '92 Hov with a twist of '99 Nas. (I know, sounds insane.)

Jadakiss finally appeared and performed his hits such as, "Put Ya Hands Up" (from his 2001 debut album, Kiss The Game Goodbye), "Can't Stop Me" and "Death Wish" (both from his 2009 album The Last Kiss). He performed with a lot of energy and, as mentioned, even pulled the crowd onto the stage while he performed.

I know that all of the 17 year-olds that came to the show that night certainly did not expect they'd be on stage with Kiss! (And I bet their friends who stayed home instead of going to the show were definitely feeling a little salty this week.)

At the end of the show, I did get to catch up with the 20-year-old up and comer, Apollo. I asked him how it felt to perform in Atlantic City for the first time and to receive so much support from the crowd. His response was simple:

"Jersey is my home, I'm glad I get to represent," he said. "Performing with Jadakiss was an honor and Atlantic City was good to me. I would love to come back and perform."

If you missed out on both the 50 Cent and Jadakiss shows last weekend, don't worry, the summer is just starting!

Velv Notes:

The Good: Jadakiss' performance was the highlight of the night, but gaining a new artist to add to my music library was also a plus.

The Not So Good: Juelz Santana did not appear at the concert as advertised, but Jadakiss' performance made me forget there was supposed to be another headliner.
