Longport Media Partners with SportsRadio WIP to Launch AM1490 “WIP at the Beach"

ATLANTIC CITY — Longport Media’s AM1490 will become “WIP at the Beach” starting Sept. 30 , as a joint effort between Longport Media LLC. and Philadelphia’s leading all-sports radio station SportsRadio 94WIP.

The station will feature SportsRadio 94WIP’s sports talk line-up 24 hours a day, including shows featuring Eagles head coach Andy Reid, Phillies manager Charlie Manuel, and the recently announced Chickie’s and Pete’s Player’s Lounge featuring Michael Vick.

Longport Media aims to provide South Jersey with the coverage that most interests them with the highest quality in the business. Dave Coskey (pictured above), Longport Media president, commented in a press release on the decision to create this new station with WIP.

“From the beginning, we’ve firmly committed to bringing the best live and local programming to the market,” says Coskey. “For our listeners in South Jersey, when it comes to sports talk, we believe that
Philadelphia sports are what our listeners are most interested in. And over the years, no one has done it better than WIP.”

The South Jersey area has been known as a hot spot for Philadelphia sports fandom and, in return, the shore area has been a sought after destination for vacationing Philadelphians, according to Marc
Rayfield, senior Vice President and market manager of CBS RADIO Philadelphia.

“With the addition of AM1490, we’ll reach even more Philadelphia sports fans on a regular basis,” says Rayfield, in a press release.

There are currently two weekly programs on SportsRadio 94WIP, which transmit from Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which will serve as the exclusive broadcast partner.

The station’s programming line-up currently includes: 5am to 10am, Angelo Cataldi and the Morning Team with Rhea Hughes and Al Morganti; 10am to 1pm The Mike and Ike Show; 1pm to 6pm, Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow; and 6pm to 10pm, Rob Ellis or a sports play-by-play.
Overnight broadcasts are handled by Big Daddy Graham, airing from 2am to 5:30am.

Longport Media LLC formed this past May as a communications company owned and operated by investors from the Atlantic City and greater southern New Jersey area. The company took control over radio stations WOND, WMGM, WTKU, WWAC, and WBSS on May 13.

WIP is one of the first all-sports formatted radio stations in the nation. The station annually hosts the well-known Wing Bowl before the Super Bowl.
