ATLANTIC CITY — Diane Fischer of Dee Lee Promotions will be hosting, in association with the Tropicana Casino & Resort, a nine-bout boxing card Saturday, Feb. 4, in the Trop Showroom. The first bout is slated to start 8pm.

Dubbed “Super Brawl I” (and coming on the eve of Super Bowl XLVI), the night’s co-main event features two talented fighters from Philadelphia, including one who’s become an Atlantic City favorite — heavyweight “Gentleman” Chazz Witherspoon. A top contender for a world title shot, Witherspoon, the cousin of former two-time heavyweight champ “Terrible” Tim Witherspoon, will be seeking his 30th win as a pro (entering the contest with a 29-2 record, 21 by knockout) in a 10-round non-title bout against Evans “The Sandman” Quinn of Nicaragua (20-6-1, 18 KOs).
Unbeaten lightweight Angel Ocasio of Philly is on the undercard.
“[Witherspoon]’s an all-around athlete with an arsenal of skills he brings to the ring,” says Fischer, a member of the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame. “He considers each fight just one step closer to a title shot, and hopes to follow the path of his cousin, two-time world heavyweight champion, ‘Terrible’ Tim Witherspoon.”

Chazz Witherspoon’s last four fights have all been in Atlantic City, the most recent being a third-round TKO of Ty Cobb (14-2) at the Trop Showroom. The 30-year-old’s last loss was Dec. 5, 2009, when he suffered a ninth-round TKO against Tony Thompson (32-2) at Boardwalk Hall.

Unbeaten lightweight Angel Ocasio (above) of Philly is on the undercard.

The vacant NABA lightweight championship will also be on the line Saturday, pitting Philly’s Victor Vasquez (14-5-1, seven KOs) against veteran Dorin Spivey (40-6, 29 KOs) of Portsmouth, Virginia. It will be Vasquez’s first fight in Atlantic City, as the first 20 fights in his pro career have all been in or around his hometown of Philly. His last fight was an eight-round majority decision win over Angel Rios of the Bronx, N.Y. Spivey will certainly rank among Vasquez's toughest opponents thus far.

The undercard will include unbeaten Atlantic City super middleweight Isiah Seldon (5-0, two KOs — the son of former heavyweight champion Bruce Seldon) against an opponent to be announced, and a four-round female bout featuring featherweights Carla Torres (3-2) of Cleveland, Ohio, and Nydia Feliciano (3-2-3) of the Bronx, N.Y.

Right — Super middleweight Isiah Seldon (with his father, former heavyweight champ Bruce Seldon) is scheduled to be on Saturday night's undercard.

The remainder of the Super Brawl I undercard will showcase rising stars like Frankie “The Freight Train” Filippone (8-2, two KOs) of Norfolk, Va., against Richard Langley (5-3, three KOs) of Tacoma, Wash.; lightweight Joey Tiberi (6-1, four KOs) of Newark, Del., against Steve Cox (2-3, one KO) of Independence, Mo.; heavyweight Dorset Barnwell (5-0, three KOs) of Norfolk, Va., versus Jon Bolden (2-3, two KOs) New York, N.Y.; lightweight Angel Ocasio (6-0, one KO) of Philadelphia against an opponent to be announced; and super featherweight Keenan Smith (4-0, one KO) of Philadelphia versus Chris Finley (2-3, two KOs) of Detroit.

Doors open at 7pm Saturday with the first bout slated for 8pm. Tickets are $40, $55, $75 and $100, and can be purchased at the Tropicana Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800.745-3000 or Dee Lee Promotions at 856-692-1206.
