Evander Holyfield made an appearance at Golden Nugget last Friday to announce the launch of his Real Deal Championship Title Boxing series.

The heavyweight world champion, who will be inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame later this year, aims to bring boxing back into the forefront of the sports scene with his new championship series. Holyfield, along with co-promoter Sal Musumeci and Golden Nugget officials, suggested at the press conference that Atlantic City will play a major role in future Real Deal events.

“I would love to make Atlantic City our home base,” Musumeci said. “It upsets me when I hear people talking about Atlantic City’s troubles. I truly believe it can become great again, and I’d love to help make it a big player in boxing again.”

“We’ve done boxing here in the past with Sal, and we’ve just been looking for the right situation to bring it back,” Golden Nugget Executive Vice President and General Manager Tom Pohlman said. “Evander has a lot of clout in the sport, and we’re looking forward to working with him in the future.”
