The Blob has resurfaced at Golden Nugget Atlantic City, and War is being waged at Tropicana Atlantic City.

The Blob:

The Blob recreates that gooey substance from the classic horror film and uses it as the theme for a new slot machine.

Golden Nugget is the only Atlantic City casino that currently offers this game.

A penny slot, The Blob features 243 ways to win. In addition to designated patterns, winning combinations are based on matching symbols on adjacent reels. Symbols include the standard A, K, Q, J and 10, as well as an actor and actress (overacting!), a dog, a movie ticket and a convertible.

Three Blob symbols activate a bonus round where players choose “Loaded Reels” (pictures only, no A, K, Q, J or 10) or “Wild Stacks” (three identical symbols on the same reel make the entire reel wild). Each awards 10 free games that can retrigger — and retrigger again.

With greater bets, players qualify to win more progressive jackpots when a meteor symbol lands on the reels during the base game or the free games. Minimum bet is 50 cents, maximum is $3.

To win the mini, minor, major, grand or box office progressive players pick from among 15 meteors until three match.

The Blob is located across from the host desk at Michael Patrick’s Brasserie in the corridor leading to the buffet.

Casino war:

War uses eight decks of cards, ranked as in poker, except aces are always high. The suit doesn’t matter.

If a player’s card is higher than the dealer’s, the win is even money. Matching the dealer’s card forces the player to surrender and forfeit half the bet or go to war for a chance at even bigger payoffs.

Tropicana also has introduced Three Card 21 “N” Done, a variation of blackjack with a 3-Card Bonus side wager. Each player makes two wagers and gets three cards face up. The dealer gets the traditional two cards, one up and one down.

First, the dealer checks for all winning Three Card 21 Bonus hands and pays the players accordingly.

Players then use those same three cards to continue the blackjack portion of the game.

Similar to standard blackjack, but with a few variations, point counts of 21 are an automatic win.

Those first three cards a bust? Players can split them for more ways to win.

Play both games in the North Tower Casino.
