Dan Skeldon

Meteorologist, The Press of Atlantic City and Longport Media

Dan Skeldon, 39, is the meteorologist for The Press of Atlantic City and Longport Media. Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Cornell University in 1998. After a 16-year career in broadcasting, 12 as chief meteorologist at NBC-TV 40 News in South Jersey, Dan continues to forecast the weather for newspapers, radio and through social networking. Dan also works closely with municipal and county emergency management offices throughout South Jersey, hoping to better increase advance preparedness of potentially deadly weather events. Dan was the recipient of the 2013 Labov Bernstein Community Service Award for his preparedness efforts and response regarding Hurricane Sandy and the June 2012 derecho. Dan spearheaded the NBC40 collection drive after Sandy, delivering 13 filled box trucks to those in need after the storm. A kid himself when it comes to weather, Dan visits dozens of schools throughout South Jersey each year. He also donates his time and energy to charitable organizations with the American Cancer Society and local humane societies topping the list.
