Lead Physician, Shore Physicians Group
Charles Roche was born into a large and loving family from Drexel Hill, Pa., and graduated with honors from Saint Joseph's University. He proceeded to study — and fall in love with — medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. After spreading his wings a bit by moving to Honolulu for an extended two-year honeymoon, he has worked at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point as medical director of the Hospitalist Program and chief medical information officer for the past five years. During this time, Charles has grown to love this area and the people of Atlantic and Cape May counties. He has enjoyed great success at the hospital, leading an initiative to computerize physician ordering, and being awarded the Planetree Physician of the Year award in 2012 and the Department of Medicine Chairman's Award in 2014. In May 2015, he left the walls of the hospital for the first time in his professional life, and took a position as lead physician in Shore's latest Primary Care office in Ocean City. The change has been a great one both professionally and personally, and he looks forward to many years caring for patients in "America's Greatest Family Resort." He continues to be thankful for the love and support of his wife Roisin and two daughters Nora, 5, and Evelyn, 2, who give his life meaning and keep him smiling.
