June 23-24, Bader Field
The Orion Festival headlined by Metallica, arrives at Bader Field on June 23 and 24. More than 20 bands are scheduled to perform all day and night. Tickets are $150 for early bird, $175 and $750 for a VIP pass. For tickets go to orionmusic.com. Metallica will play landmark metal set Ride the Lightning one evening and bestseller Metallica — that’s the all-black disc that contains “Enter Sandman,” the group’s best known song, on the other.
Yet this is not just a metal festival. There are other hard rock bands on the schedule, including Avenged Sevenfold, Cage the Elephant, and A Place to Bury Strangers. Also scheduled are Modest Mouse, Roky Erickson, British rockers Arctic Monkeys. Jersey heroes Titus Andronicus and the Gaslight Anthem will get in on the action, too. Throw in Gary Clark Jr., Lucero, The Sword, Liturgy, Best Coast and others “from punk to country” and you’re looking at an extremely eclectic musical event.
