Patsy’s Italian Restaurant at the Hilton will be serving Frank Sinatra’s favorite dishes and have some special entertainment to celebrate what would have been his 95th birthday.
It’s a well-known fact that Frank Sinatra’s favorite place to dine was Patsy’s Italian Restaurant in New York City — a theater-district landmark founded by Pasquale “Patsy” Scognamillo in 1944.
On Monday, Dec. 13, the original restaurant’s two-year-old Atlantic City counterpart, Patsy’s at the Atlantic City Hilton, will pay tribute to the mothership’s number-one customer by offering his favorite dishes in celebration of what would have been Ol’ Blue Eyes’ 95th birthday (born Dec 12, 1915, in Hoboken, N.J.).
Guests will be given some of Sinatra’s favorite entrees like Clams Posillipo, Veal Milanese, Fusilli with Fileto di Pomodoro, his favorite desserts including Ricotta Torte, and a glass of wine for a $75-per-person fee (plus tax and tip). Additionally, guests will be entertained by noted New York City singer George Pettignano, and 20-year-old singing sensation James DeFrances — both of whom will be performing their renditions of Sinatra hits.
A senior at Immaculata University in Chester County, Pa., De Frances was born in Pittsburgh and now lives in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, graduating from Downingtown High School in 2007. He’s been performing since age 13, and in 2004 was an opening act for today’s version of the Glenn Miller Orchestra in Virginia. He also performed at New York City’s historic Tavern on the Green, and in August 2005 appeared on the same bill as famed Philadelphia crooner Al Martino (who passed away Oct. 2009) at the Pittsburgh Italian Festival (pictured below left). He’s won multiple awards, among them the 2005 Atlantic City Boardwalk Superstar Show at Trump Plaza.
“I had always been aware of Sinatra and Tony Bennett and all the greats, because that’s the kind of music my grandparents listened to,” DeFrances told The Immaculatan Online, the student newspaper of Immaculata University, in a Nov. 25 interview. “It was the music of their generation and I always liked that style of music … I’m probably the biggest Frank Sinatra fan there ever was — I’m in the Frank Sinatra Preservation Society. I’ve met his whole family as a matter of fact.”
The Atlantic City Patsy’s opened in 2008 and offers a marketplace at the Hilton where customers can
purchase gourmet products, such as Patsy’s award-winning sauces made from the freshest ingredients.
The A.C. Patsy’s is under the direction of owner/ head chef Sal Scognamillo (pictured right).

Chef Sal says: "Everyone will be getting a cookbook and a jar of Pasty’s sauce as part of the admission to the event. You have the food, you have the singing, and you have the dancing. It will be a wonderful night.”
Once again, greetings and salutations. Before getting to your questions, I want to thank the folks at Caesars, including boss man Don Marrandino, and Georges Perrier and Chris Scarduzio, who together run Mia Restaurant at Caesars, for the wonderful hospitality bestowed upon all of us who taped the Time-Life Malt Shop Memories show for PBS recently. Chris and Georges took time out to cook for every one of the stars of the show (held earlier this month at Caesars’ Circus Maximus Theater), including Frankie Avalon, Chris Montez, Bobby Rydell, and all the groups. We’ll let you know when it will be televised, and you can check geator.net for updates....
