Prior to official grand opening Memorial Day Weekend, the casino resort presents ‘Taste of Revel’ May 18-20
With all the complexities of opening a brand new destination resort in Atlantic City, the executives at Revel already had a lot on their plate. However, those same executives decided to put some great food on the plates of visitors, by presenting the inaugural Taste of Revel, presented by Food & Wine Magazine and created in partnership with Travel + Leisure. This three-day epicurean extravaganza from May 18-20, will feature exclusive experiences developed specifically for the 6.3-million-square-foot beachfront destination.
Revel’s all-star line-up of chefs — Alain Allegretti, Jose Garces, Marc Forgione, Michel Richard and Robert Wiedmaier — will be joined by Food & Wine’s celebrated wine expert Anthony Giglio and Travel + Leisure’s features director and senior correspondent Nilou Motamed for more than a dozen events taking place throughout the resort.
“We are excited to partner with Revel on The Taste of Revel presented by Food & Wine, offering epicureans a diverse culinary experience,” said Food & Wine VP/Publisher Christina Grdovic. “The programming features some of the most talented chefs and wine experts and this is sure to be a memorable weekend.”
Highlights of Food & Wine presents The Taste of Revel include the following events throughout the resort:
• Kickoff Bash hosted by all five Revel chefs with two hours of fresh takes on favorite dishes from the Boardwalk
• Pastry Party hosted by Chef Michel Richard featuring fine confections with a wink of whimsy.
• Learn about the art of preparing a whole fish at The Big Fish Breakdown with Chef Alain Allegretti.
• Pair Belgian beer with fine cheeses at Chef Robert Wiedmaier’s Beer and Cheese Pairing.
• The Art of Paella with Jose Garces. Iron Chef Garces shares his technique and interpretation of lobster-and-seafood paella.
• “Pig Out” with Revel chefs as they put their signature spin on pork
Tickets for Food & Wine presents The Taste of Revel are available for purchase on Friday, April 20, by going here. Tickets are priced starting at $65 for individual events.
Since opening just over a year ago, Revel has certainly faced more than its fair share of hardship. One undeniable fact though, the shimmering building with the globe on top has brought a dazzling collection of gastronomic options to the area, including star chef concepts from the likes of Marc Forgione, Jose Garces, Luke Palladino, Alain Allegretti and Robert Wiedmaier.

When Revel first exploded on the Atlantic City scene last spring, one of its very first events was a delightful culinary event, the Taste of Revel. The casino is continuing and expanding its original series of events with this year’s second annual Taste of Revel culinary weekend that will be the finishing touch to a week long, resort-wide epicurean extravaganza from Monday, May 6 through Sunday, May 12.
As the weather starts to warm up, so will the lineup for weekly entertainment nightlife at Revel’s award-winning The Social this spring.
Tis the season to be drinking seasonal beers and enjoying hearty fare, and Revel is on board with its “Oktoberfeast 2012” scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19-21.
Revel, the glittering jewel at the north end of the Atlantic City Boardwalk, has had a rough beginning on the gaming side of the ledger since it opened in late spring. However, on the entertainment side, it has delivered positive vibrations and national headlines.
"Each night when we do live music we turn the lights down around 10pm and it turns into a really fun rock ‘n’ roll vibe. It’s a great interactive environment.”
Although designed with chic, urbane sensibility, One is decidedly not a triumph of form over function. Our meal supplied sophisticated, upscale New American, emphasizing grilled fare.
Amazingly, Atlantic City’s golden age of dining just keeps getting better.
On this evening, Azure offered East Coast varietal Wellfleet and another from Washington state. The Wellfleet’s were dense, meaty and creamy while their Pacific relatives, smaller but deeply cupped in shells, offered a smooth, salty hint of their briny home.
“When I look at Atlantic City, maybe I just see something different,” says DeSanctis. “What I see, when you go out on our Sky Garden or you go out on our deck, that’s sort of the Atlantic City that I think about. We have this incredible geographic location. We have 47 million people within a six-hour drive of this place, and when we think about options from a resort perspective in the Northeast, there really aren’t any. "
The catalyst behind Revel’s ambitious nightlife and entertainment options is the Las Vegas-based Angel Management Group (AMG), which brings three unique nightlife concepts to the property and southern New Jersey.
