The initial permanent dining destination at Atlantic City’s Golden Nugget has been very well received so far.
Off the Charts: ‘East West Tuna’
ATLANTIC CITY — It seems only fitting that Chart House has become the very first destination restaurant to grace the newly minted Golden Nugget casino in Atlantic City’s marina district.
For multiple reasons.
First, this seafood specialty concept fits brilliantly within its space — formerly Harborview — a particularly scenic vista gazing across the sprawling Farley State boating facility.
Second, the menu — upscale fare in a casual atmosphere — combines classic local seashore elements with a creative worldliness. Decor is in tones of pristine white and pale green the shade of summery basil. Even the entrance here is dramatic. Most diners traverse an elevated glass walkway to reach the Chart House, actually situated in a separate construct across the street from the main casino and hotel.
Once you’ve reached a main reception area, there is a nicely heightened sense of expectation for the experience that lies ahead.
Our meal commenced with a crab, mango and avocado stack appetizer. Formed via ring mold, the chunky avocado served as foundation. A middle layer, diced mango, beautifully seasoned and bursting with flavor, added another tropical component. Riding topside was an inch-tall portion of exquisite jumbo lump crabmeat.
Only supplemented by a restrained dose of remoulade, the perfect white crab sparkled like shards of diamond. Tasted as a composed dish, along with the sweet mango and silken avocado, the trio of elements becomes a lovely seasonally right offering.
Some of the qualities that allowed Tilman Fertitta to reach the apex of the business world, and transform Landry’s Restaurants Inc. into a conglomerate worth nearly $4 billion, he seems to carry around like a set of car keys.
Golden Nugget may be new in town … er, make that new BACK in town, but the acclaimed casino brand name knows that the fall is no time to slow down when it comes to fun at the shore.
There’s a new player in Atlantic City as the Golden Nugget officially took over operations of the former Trump Marina Tuesday, promising a $100 to $150 million renovation of the aging, and frankly, somewhat boring casino.
In what they hope will be a sweetheart deal announced on Valentine Day yesterday, Tilman J. Fertitta, Chairman, President, CEO and owner of Landry’s, Inc., parent company to the Golden Nugget Las Vegas and Laughlin, announced that Landry’s has agreed to buy the Trump Marina Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

“Listen, my daughter (24) and my son (21) and I went there yesterday for lunch. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!! This place is fantastic! It was my daughter's birthday, and we had the best moments of our weekend in Atlantic City here.
5 different staff asked for our opinion of our experience in a caring, delicate way as the lunch progressed. The receptionist saw us taking pictures, and wanted us all together in one, and came to our table to take it for us. THEN, the food was very good. Of course we have nothing like this up here in Sellersville, PA, but still, we've traveled, and know these guys are fantastic. I wish I could take these people with me, that's how much I liked all of them. Our treatment by them was unbelievable, and the food was very good.
