Hot on the tail of the two-month long Beach Bash, where Tropicana hosted regular summer-themed events and deals, this ode to bacon, running from Sunday, March 19, to Saturday, March 25, is a tried and true Tropicana event. Now in its fifth year, Bacon Week challenges the many restaurants and bars on the property to incorporate bacon into their dishes and drinks. This popular themed week has returned year after year thanks to a warm reception from Tropicana guests, and is a way to spice up the colder months at the shore.

“We look at A.C. as being summer destination. So, we want to bring people down to the area all year round — bring the outdoors to the indoors,” says Food and Beverage Manager Mario Chiong of Bacon Week.
So successful and frequent are Tropicana’s themed weeks that it has actually become unlikely you’ll catch them without a running motif. But anything can become a theme. So why bacon?
“Who doesn’t love bacon?” Chiong simply explains. “To be able to indulge in an entire week, why would you not want to do that?”
Chiong is particularly excited about an old fashioned he’s tweaked to suit the theme.
“I’m a big fan of old fashioneds, so I immediately thought I had to do a bacon-infused bourbon,” he says. “I watched a couple of videos and saw some mixologists infusing spirits with the flavor. I’m in the process now of making the bacon bourbon for Il Verdi.”
Drinks like a bacon old fashioneds are about as Instagram-worthy as you can get. Indeed, Tropicana seems to understand the ebbs and flows of online popularity — if ever there were a meat Internet darling, bacon would be it.
