There are hundreds of awards dedicated to a lifetime of achievement and, of course, those who devote themselves to the betterment of their community, whether that be through service, art or brainpower, are worthy of praise. That said, at Atlantic City Weekly we like to give a pat on the back to those who are still in their prime, centered in a life that has seen incredible achievement in only a few short years.
That’s where our Top 40 Under 40 comes in. The name says it all — it’s a list of 40 honorees under 40 years of age who deserve some recognition for their contributions to their community. A collaboration between A.C. Weekly and the Greater Atlantic City Jaycees, Top 40 Under 40 is now in its 13th year. Starting Thursday, Dec. 15, and ending Feb. 9, we will accept nominations, so if you know someone worthy of the distinction, do us — and them — a favor by submitting a nomination.
This is not a popularity contest. We look at the quality of a nomination, not the quantity of nominations. Those who are proven most worthy, along with 10 nominees picked specifically by members of the A.C. Weekly editorial staff. We’re asking you to let us know who your community’s dynamic leaders, dedicated civil servants and savvy entrepreneurs are, and we’ll fill in the blanks with the men and women we think have gone unrecognized. Those who make the cut will be invited to our Top 40 Under 40 celebration, held at Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa’s Event Center, 7 p.m. Friday, March 24. Winners can invite up to 10 guests to join in the party, which will be attended by some of South Jersey’s most notable businessmen and businesswomen. Honorees must be available to attend the celebration, must be no older than 39 and cannot be a past winner.
We will announce the winners on March 9, with our special issue honoring the Top 40 which will come out March 23. Head to ACWeekly.com/Top40 for updates or to make a nomination.
