Fans of Gen X pop culture have reason to rejoice, as it has just been announced that Erik Estrada (also known as "Ponch" from the classic TV show "CHiPs") will serve as grand marshal for this years Doo-Dah Parade in Ocean City. Estrada will also host the Mr. Mature America pageant that evening.

The parade will be held at noon Saturday, April 14, and will feature floats, marching bands, performers and a massive brigade of over 500 basset hounds, courtesy of Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue. The parade route begins at Sixth Street and travels down Asbury Avenue to 12th Street, then turns to the Boardwalk at 12th Street and finishes on the Boardwalk at Fifth Street.

The Mr. Mature America Event will begin at 7 p.m. on the same night at Ocean City Music Pier and includes competition in talent, judge’s interviews, poise and appearance. Ocean City Music Pier is located at 825 Boardwalk in Ocean City. For more info go to OCNJ.us
