STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER A celebration of all things silent, Ocean City’s Quiet festival returns.

Shhh … Is that the sound of the ocean? As the shore transitions from the hustle and bustle of summer to peaceful walks on a quiet boardwalk, Ocean City is celebrating the slower season with the annual Quiet Festival, taking place Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 4 and 5.

As warm outdoor activities come to a slow down and being indoors becomes more attractive, this year’s festival will celebrate all the resources available to visitors and locals alike inside the Ocean City Community Center.

Housing the city’s public library, arts center, historical museum, aquatic and fitness center, and the Howard S. Stainton Senior Center, the site will offer a variety of activities over the course of the two-day event.

The weekend includes a family yoga class, appearances by Miss New Jersey Kaitlyn Schoeffel, tours of the historical museum, pottery demonstration, art activity, dance class, story time, checkers tournament, and more. It all comes to a close with the annual bubble blowing ceremony on Sunday, in place of loud fireworks.

Activities are from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Ocean City Community Center is located at 1735 Simpson Ave. Call 609-399-6111 or go to OCNJ.US/QuietFestival.
