Grab your surfboard and head to Margate’s beach for the 17th Annual Surf For A Cause event, hosted by The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation Saturday, Sept. 9.

Margate’s Decatur Avenue beach will be the host site for multiple surfing competitions, taking place throughout the day in 11 different divisions. Divisions for longboard and standup paddleboard are included in the day’s events. Check in will take place between 7 and 8 a.m.

Each surfer is encouraged to collect donations for the foundation, with the top fundraisers receiving a custom-shaped surfboard. Prizes will also be awarded to second and third place fundraisers, and anyone who raises $75 will receive a Surf It Forward hat, T-shirt and sticker.

In addition to fundraising, the day also includes a surfing session for kids with special needs by The Heart of Surfing Foundation, who will give a guided surfing lesson.

Registration is online only and is $50, with $15 for each additional division. Registration includes a ticket to the after party at 4 p.m. at Ventura’s Greenhouse. Boys ages 11 and younger and girls ages 12 and younger can register for free. Tickets to the after-party only are $30. Go to for more information.
