The 3rd annual ACWeekly.com Reader's Choice Nightlife Awards will be formally announced at an award party at Boogie Nights Thursday night, Jan. 27. It's free and open to the public!
The votes have been tallied for the 3rd annual ACWeekly.com Reader’s Choice Nightlife Awards. On this page you will find the winners, with a handful of honorable mentions in cases when the votes were so close that we needed to give props to some of the respective venues that were voted for.
Back in the fall of 2008 when Atlantic City Weekly hatched out the plan for such an awards project — with all the voting done online at acweekly.com — and the awards event, we had no idea it would become as big as it is in 2011. The original intent was to celebrate the local nightlife industry and create a big awards-ceremony party in the dead of winter.
More than 3,000 votes were cast online at acweekly.com this year, up from each of the past two years. Additionally, the awards ceremony Jan. 27 (see opposite page) is slated to be the biggest and best yet, with a pair of icons from the 1980s — which is quite fitting as the host venue, Boogie Nights at Resorts, has a ’70s and ’80s theme — hosting and presenting during the awards ceremony, and the decision to make the entire event open-to-the-industry.
“This party is going to be the best Nightlife Awards party we’ve done yet,” says Schwachter. “Everyone in the industry who I’ve had the chance to talk to in recent weeks is very excited, not only for the chance to win an award, but to celebrate Atlantic City’s extraordinary nightlife scene with fellow industry and party-going folk.”

Along with all of our many readers who voted this year, Atlantic City Weekly thanks the sponsors of the Jan. 27 event, especially our event host Boogie Nights at Resorts.
And, without further adieu, here are your 2011 ACWeekly.com Reader’s Choice Nightlife Awards. If you think someone else should have won in any category, we have three words for you: Vote next year. Keep an eye on acweekly.com for more info and photos from the awards party and about the 2012 voting. Rock on.
