A 'Juno'-verse would be nice, but 'There Will Be Blood' as 'No Country' wins

Thank goodness the writers strike ended in time for the Academy Awards to proceed with all the major stars in attendance. There are three truly exceptional films vying for Oscar dominance, No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood and Juno. The "I drink your milkshake" factor could push There Will Be Blood past the Coen Brothers.

Here are my predictions and preferences for the major categories. For my complete list, visit the AC Weekly blog.The Academy Awards will be broadcast on Sunday, Feb. 24, 8pm, on ABC with Jon Stewart as the host.

Best Supporting Actor

o Casey Affleck, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

o Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men

o Philip Seymour Hoffman, Charlie

Wilson's War

o Hal Holbrook, Into the Wild

o Tom Wilkinson, Michael Clayton

Prediction: Javier Bardem

Preference: Javier Bardem

The shoo-in of the night, with only Hal Holbrook having a remote chance for an upset.

Best Supporting Actress

o Cate Blanchett, I'm Not There
