Fall in southern New Jersey is a time for festivals, Boardwalk shows, the Atlantic City Marathon and Halloween treats. And that’s not even mentioning headliners such as Phish and Justin Beiber performing at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall. Here’s a list of events that celebrate the season and should help you forget winter is on the way.

After the heat and sun of summer, southern New Jersey relaxes with some cooler weather, less crowded beaches and roads (and hopefully less rain) and a local flavor during the fall. Here’s a look at some events and activities to help you enjoy the shore’s second season.
Filmmaker Jeff Reichert, who grew up in Northfield, will be sweating a little bit this Friday, Oct. 15. Not because he is on his way home to bring his documentary, Gerrymandering, to the Atlantic City Cinefest film festival this weekend, Sunday, Oct. 17, 6pm, but because his film will be opening in several major cities including New York and Los Angeles on Friday.
Acclaimed jam band Phish has played 10 Halloween shows over the course of its career, which are known in the Phish camp as “Musical Costume” concerts, during its well-chronicled history.
