ATLANTIC CITY — Labor Day weekend may be over, but Atlantic City still has a lot going on.
Two Atlantic City hot spots that should be on your radar are The Chelsea Hotel and Morton’s the Steakhouse, located inside Caesars.
Aside from the fact that both places are wonderful to experience and have great reputations, they also have something that not too many places offer: healthy cocktails!
That’s right, in a city known for some not-so-healthy habits, both of these venues not only bring you the highest quality foods, but are also making an effort to allow you to indulge in a drink and let loose at their establishments all while staying slim.
Morton’s has introduced Spa-Tinis onto their drink menu, and they are all less than 200 calories. Their best seller is the “Skynny Blood Orange Cosmo,” which consists of the following main ingredients: Tykhu Soju, Skyy Blood Orange Vodka, sugar-free Triple Sec and fresh lime juice. Another one of their healthy-cocktail selections, a drink which received national exposure when it was featured on The Today Show is named “The Red Velvet.”
It consists of a blend of Lindeman’s Raspberry Lambic, Sparkling Wine AntiOxidant Me, Absolut Acai, POM Pomegranate Juice with Monin Superfruit Puree and fresh lime juice.
Other selections off of Morton’s new calorie-counting menu are the “Skinny Rita,” “Antioxidant Me,” “Berry Blossom,” “Raspberry Gimlet” and the “Lean and Green.”
Atlantic City’s super-chic Chelsea Hotel also features a selection of health-conscious cocktails on their Cabana Club menu.
The list here features a variety of tasty beverages, however, the signature drink is called “The Chelsea.” Prepared by muddling four mint leaves and two slices of cucumber, the drink, which debuted when the boutique hotel opened a few years ago, includes a glass of 3.5-ounces of premium vodka, a splash of fresh lemon juice, ice and “simple syrup” (water and sugar). The ingredients are then strained into a martini glass, topped with 1.5 ounces of Prosecco and garnished with a sliced cucumber.
Another favorite is “The Boardwalk Lemonade,” made with premium citrus vodka, fresh lemonade juice and a splash of “simple syrup.” The “Honey Sickle Martini,” made with Grey Goose Poivre, agave nectar, fresh lemon juice and topped with a Sipp Honey Pear sparkling beverage, is another popular drink at The Chelsea. Same goes for the “Light & Breezy,” which involves a couple ounces of 10 Cane Rum, agave nectar, fresh lemon juice and topped with Sipp Ginger Blossom sparkling beverage.
Non-alcoholic drinks are also popular and healthy options at The Chelsea.
The hotel’s kitchen makes fresh lemonade daily by zesting the lemon in order to extract its oils. A small amount of “simple syrup” is used as well.
There are healthy choices, even if you’re drinking.
