Two weeks ago this columnist wrote: “The seeds of ideas generally come from a small group that discusses a project and then introduces it to others to build up momentum and to make it become a reality.”
Tom Lamaine, a recently retired and longtime TV meteorologist, came up with an idea that would apply well to that expression.
Lamaine suggested having the 90th anniversary of the Miss America parade on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. It would be a one-time parade that would not only feature the contestants, but also all former Miss Americas. It seemed like the logical thing to do. The idea was presented to the pageant officials who said they would have to check out the contract with Las Vegas, where it was anticipated a parade might be held.
The seeds of ideas generally come from a small group that discusses a project and then introduces it to others to build up momentum and to make it become a reality. Thus was born the idea of resurrecting the Miss America Parade in Atlantic City.
'Penthouse' publisher Bob Guccione never achieved the full notoriety of his contemporaries in the skin magazine trade, but still loomed as a controversial figure with his publication, which was much more hardcore than Hugh Hefner’s 'Playboy,' but much tamer than Larry Flynt’s 'Hustler.'
Every night, they walked the long runway — the statuesque queen in her dazzling duds, and the diminutive page in dutiful pursuit. The throngs beyond the footlights oohed and ogled. Television was not yet ready ....

“Pinky, I thought you were all for decimating O'Donnell Memorial park for a Casino. How sad are our leaders in this city, where they would destroy a park dedicated the men and women who fought for our freedoms so they could reep the rewards of a new Casino. I will never forget that you were all for this Pinky.”

“Pinky, why don't we just move the monument (piece by piece or on rails) under a street light? I would suggest the Boardwalk but it appears it takes the city 3 years to change a lightbulb on the boards. Beach is still 80% filthy, it's ashame the cleaner only works an hour a day.”

“www.myspace.com/hauntedtales Please check out our sight. Unfortunately this will be our third and final year on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. We have poured our heart and soul into this business in trying to bring family entertainment to Atlantic City. We came in with something different. Some thing for the family. We have gotten absolutely no support from the government in order to promote family entertainment. Atlantic City is absolutely filthy. Gov. Christy has a great concept, but who in their right might would come in and invest in a city that is rapidly going down hill. We don't have ten years to wait. Crooked politicians have ruined this city. Good night Atlantic City.”
