For the third consecutive year, Caesars Entertainment and the Tribeca Film Festival have teamed up to present free films on the beach this summer.
Thanks to Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City and the Tribeca Film Festival, movie-goers of all ages can attend a four-day film festival filled with fresh independent films and beautiful beach sunsets at no cost.
The catch? There is none.
For the third year in a row, Caesars’ beach will host the Tribeca Cinema Series (July 12-15), where visitors can feast their eyes on a 33-by-20 foot HD screen while feasting on specialty popcorn (in a variety of flavors).
“Each year, the event provides visitors and residents with an incredible opportunity to enjoy celebrated films in a picturesque seaside setting,” said eastern division president of Caesars Entertainment, Don Marrandino.
A selection of films will feature celebrated actors such as Martin Sheen, Jenna Fischer, Demián Bichir and Topher Grace. Among the award-winning films screened will be The Giant Mechanical Man directed by Lee Kirk; The Runaway directed by Ian Power; 388 Arletta Avenue directed by Randall Cole; and Stella Days directed by Thaddeus O’Sullivan.
Located on the Caesars beach at Arkansas Avenue in Atlantic City, each screening will begin at sundown. Popcorn (served in such varieties as Cajun, Parmesan, chocolate drizzle and caramel almond) will also be available to the public.

Thursday, July 12 (Opening) @ Caesars Beach
Film: The Runaway (directed by Ian Power and starring Demián Bichir, Kerry Condon, James Cosmo, Jamie Kierans, John Carpenter, Bruno Bichir)
Synopsis: In a kid-friendly and lighthearted comedy, Oscar-nominee Demián Bichir (A Better Life, Weeds) portrays Ernesto, a pilot from Colombia whose plane has crashed in a remote Irish village. Ernesto befriends Paco, a mature nine-year old boy who speaks Spanish, and who later on acts as his translator. Paco introduces Ernesto to the entire town as a hero with an interesting past, encouraging them to help rebuild his plane. Inspired by a true story, the film speaks of familial ties and the power of being a town hero. Won “Best Nordic Children’s Film” Award at the 2011 Buster International Children’s Film Festival. 101 minutes.

Friday, July 13 @ Caesars Beach
Film: Stella Days (directed by Thaddeus O’Sullivan and starring Martin Sheen, Stephen Rea, Tristan Gravelle, Marcella Plunkett, Joseph O'Sullivan, Tom Hickey, Derble Crotty, Amy Huberman, Ruth McCabe)
Synopsis: A local cinema in 1950s Ireland becomes the location for a dramatic battle between Hollywood and Rome, and a man and his true conscience. Martin Sheen (The Departed, Apocalypse Now, The West Wing) plays Father Daniel Berry and tells the tale of a town struggling to live in a modern world while holding on to an archaic cultural identity and to customs of the church. Nominated for “IFTA Best Film” Award at the 2012 Irish Film and Television Awards. 100 minutes.

Saturday, July 14 @ Caesars Beach
Film: The Giant Mechanical Man (directed by Lee Kirk and starring Jenna Fischer, Chris Messina, Topher Grace, Malin Akerman, Rich Sommer, Lucy Punch, Bob Odenkirk)
Synopsis: In this heartwarming romantic comedy, Janice (Jenna Fischer), a childlike 30-year old, and Tim (Chris Messina), a dedicated street performer, fall in love. Everybody else seems to know what’s best for Janice but herself, which is where Tim comes in. He brings optimism into her life, by teaching her to listen to her heart. A 94-minute dramatic comedy.

Sunday, July 15 (Closing) @ Caesars Beach
Film: 388 Arletta Avenue (directed by Randall Cole and starring Nick Stahl, Devon Sawa, Mia Kirshner)
Synopsis: From the makers of Splice and Cube comes a new and exciting thriller. A faceless villain begins to torment a young couple, and the battle for their lives quickly intensifies into a deadly cat-and-mouse game. Filmed from the perspective of hidden cameras that have been concealed throughout the house. 87 minutes.

UPDATE (7/10/12): Specialty Cocktails for the Film Fest
Just when we thought it couldn't get any better than moonlit movies on the beach...
It did.
For viewers ages 21+, Caesars Atlantic City has whipped up a mouth-watering menu of alcoholic beverages to match the mood of each film screened.
Thursday night will begin with a refreshing drink called "Crash Landing," a half pint of Harp and lemonade, that is sure to complement the nostalgic yet courageous nature of The Runway, directed by Ian Power.
Next up is Stella Days, a tale set in the 1950s that will transport viewers to the old days. The beverage "Irish Days" is no exception. It includes Jameson Irish whiskey, peach brandy, orange juice, sweet and sour mix and topped with a decorative garnish of orange slices and cherries.
ABSOLUT vanilla vodka, Chambord liquor and pineapple juice contribute to the making of Saturday night's sophisticated cocktail "The French Martini." The sweet and fruity nature of this drink will accompany the optimistic romantic comedy The Giant Mechanical Man.
Sunday night may mark the close of this summer's Tribeca Cinema Series, but your taste buds will be left more than satisfied. "The 388," which consists of ABSOLUT vodka, pomegranate juice and a hint of pineapple juice, is just the right blend of sweet and tart. The drink will pair nicely with the suspenseful temper of 388 Arletta Avenue, an unnerving horror film.

Atlantic City has been blessed with an influx of new quality restaurants the last several months. Atlantic Grill has now joined the party as an excellent addition for the ever-expanding local dining scene, featuring elegant décor, a showcase bar area in the middle of the space and a gorgeous view of the beach and ocean.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is superior to the last Transformers movie. The plot is reasonably coherent, the action sequences are insanely over-the-top, just like superstar action-meister Michael Bay likes them, and the supporting players actually are engaging.

In real life, Nucky Johnson, Atlantic City’s Boardwalk emperor during the 1920s, did eventually marry a former showgirl and actress, a local woman named Flossie Osbeck. But that didn’t happen until one day before Johnson began serving a four-year prison term for tax fraud in 1941. There’s little historical evidence to support the fact that Lucy is patterned after Osbeck.

The Tribeca Cinema Series at Caesars’ beach will show films from around the world. The screenings, which will be held on the Caesars beach at Arkansas Avenue, begin at sundown each of the four nights.
