Once again, greetings and salutations. And as I’m about to embark onto the high seas for our annual Malt Shop Memories Cruise, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy and safe Halloween!
When the Geator returns, lots of excitement for the month of November. Our annual Turkey Trot takes place at Chickie’s & Pete’s in South Philly on Wednesday night, Nov. 21 — and the next morning the Geator will be on ABC Channel 6 for the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Around that time we’ll make the announcement of the lineup for the next Kimmel Center concert, and then, with the holidays right around the corner, our annual gala New Year’s Eve party with yours truly, the Geator, and the Trammps, will be at the Valley Forge Casino Resort. And wait till you hear the package deal, not only for the dinner, dancing, and festivities, but also for an overnight stay.
More about that in the coming weeks — but now, let’s ask the Geator.
Hi Jerry, Do you know who you plan on having perform on January 26 at the Kimmel? — Robert Green, Deptford, NJ
Over the summer we asked readers to send their suggestions for who they’d most like to see at future Kimmel Center shows. Most requested artists were the Intruders, the Stylistics, the Manhattans, Eugene Pitt and the Jive Five, the Five Satins, the Soul Survivors, Tavares, Candi Staton and Darlene Love. All great suggestions for artists we will have back at some point. As we said above, we will announce the lineup for January very shortly. Stay tuned for some pleasant surprises.
"No, you’re not going crazy. I’ve used many wonderful instrumentals throughout the years for backup around the commercials, promos, or just the Geator Rap. 'Firewater' is definitely one of them."
Once again, greetings and salutations. And are you ready for the big weekend? Yes, it’s Fabulous Fifties and Beyond Weekend in Wildwood. I’ll kick it off with our gigantic dance party Friday night, and then on Saturday you can enjoy a street fair during the day and a live show at night with the Orlons, the Fifth Dimension, Paul Revere & the Raiders, and more. For tickets and more information, call 729-4000. Then before you know it, we’ll be taking off for our third annual Malt Shop Memories Cruise at the end of the month. And the 2013 cruise dates have just been announced: Nov. 3-10. Stay tuned for more about that exciting event. But now, let’s ask the Geator. You have been playing a version of the song “Watch What Happens” that I like very much. You said it was by a group from the Baltimore area but I didn’t get the name of the group. — Carolyn, Point Pleasant, N.J. The group is the Royalettes. Great song, and as you...
Once again, greetings and salutations. And yes, fall is upon us, with lots of activities for the Geator. As you know, this Saturday it’s the annual Baby Boomers Rock & Roll Revival at La Costa in Sea Isle City. Then on to Wildwood in October for Fabulous ’50s weekend. And then, before you know it, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then the holidays. We’ve often said it: Where does the time go? I guess it’s because we are so active in our daily lives that time seems to fly by. But one thing is for sure: the Geator is on the move, even though we’re not down at the shore as much as we were during the summertime. To find out our schedule and where you can join us live, check our official calendar at Geator.net. And remember, every night I’m a part of the family when you tune in to WTKU Kool 98.3 from 7-9pm. Now, let’s ask the Geator. On your radio show I have heard you tell story after story about how Florence Greenberg didn’t want to release a particular...
