Once again, greetings and
salutations. And the big news was the marriage of David Coskey Jr. with the beautiful Anne Hall from Radnor, Pa.. One might say, “Well, who could that be?” That’s the son of Longport Media radio head David Coskey and his lovely wife, Mickey, who celebrated the wedding of their son in Philadelphia. And now that October is at its end, we look to November and the holiday season just a wink away. The Geator? All over the place. As you read this, I’m on the high seas for the Time-Life Malt Shop Memories Cruise. But I’ll be back in town and I’ll be dancing around. For info on when and when, go to geator.net. Now, time for your questions.

Any news on the Marvin Gaye biopic that Cameron Crowe is directing? — A.L. Gerard, Monmouth, N.J.

That project, which has been in development for years, has passed on to director Julien Temple and will focus on Marvin’s later years and his final album, Midnight Love. Other music bios coming out of Hollywood include an HBO production about Liberace starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon and directed by Steven Soderbergh. Not much movement on the James Brown biopic, although Wesley Snipes is still Spike Lee’s first choice to star. Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) will play Freddie Mercury in a movie that starts filming next year. A script for the story of Sam Cooke has finally been given the OK by the Cooke estate; Sir Elton is producing his own film biography, Rocketman; Justin Timberlake will play producer Neil Bogart, who started Casablanca Records (Donna Summer, Cher, Parliament, the Village People). So lots going on and we’ll keep you posted.

Geator, do you remember the old Die Casters club in Pottstown? You did a few dances there back in the ’60s. My mother ran the kitchen and always remarked about how pleasant you were. — Joseph Masleh, Pottstown, Pa.

I remember it well. Back in the ’60s I was doing a syndicated show on WPAZ in Pottstown. Herb Scott owned the station at that time and knew the market. He asked me to do record hops at the Die Casters, which we did, and they were carried live over his station. Those were great days. We now do one-nighters in Pottstown at the Sunnybrook Ballroom — in fact, we were just there last weekend, and we’ll be back again in the spring.

I remember my mother watching your show when I was a child. Those songs are still in my head as an adult. I would like to know who sings “I’d Like to Have the Pleasure of Your Company” and what year was it released? Thank you — Veronica, via Facebook

The group was called S.N. and the CT’s (Stark Naked and the Car Thieves). Basically it was a studio group that put it together on a little independent label called Sunburst. Didn’t do anything much nationally, but locally a great hit and can be found on the Geator’s For Dancers Only CD, volume 2. Great cha-cha record. The year was 1968.
