He remains passionate about politics — he calls it the most important thing in his life besides his family — and has been giving speeches in Ohio in support of President Barack Obama’s reelection.

At the same time, he’s also hosting a new dating show called Baggage, which debuted in national syndication two weeks ago.

Modest about his success almost to a fault, Springer said he’s never struggled to land a job or has even had to audition for anything. So he’d never be presumptuous enough to suggest he still has some unfulfilled career goals.

But he does have one item on his bucket list.

“If the Yankees asked me to play center field, then yeah, OK,” he says with a laugh about his favorite team. “Or maybe even just announce the games, but I’d never be able to be objective.”

Casual conversations with the stars. Watch the Emmy-winning Curtain Call with David Spatz, Saturdays at 6pm on WMGM-TV NBC40.

Atlantic City is staring down the barrel of Labor Day weekend after experiencing the single most diverse array of live entertainment ever presented here during one summer. Not just during the last 34 summers of the casino era, either, but throughout its entire gaudy, bawdy and, occasionally tawdry 160-year-old past.

Cult Classic
By Ray Schweibert

Pinpointing the origins of the term “progressive rock” as a genre may be tough, but the distinctive sound Blue Öyster Cult created when it came onto the scene in the early 1970s might serve as a type of touchstone. The band fused a sort of psychedelic edge — driven in part by lyrics born out of band manager Sandy Pearlman’s poetry, and lead singer Eric Bloom’s love for science fiction — with the heavy metal and hard-rock sounds of the day. It sold over 14 million albums worldwide, released 16 studio and live albums, and kind of reinvented itself later by recording soundtracks to popular video games like the Rock Band...

Game Show Fever
By Lori Hoffman

IT SURE ISN'T AS EASY AS IT looks on TV. Invited to check out the interactive fun at The Price is Right Live Stage Show at the Showboat, I brought my pal Sally with me to try her luck. How hard can it be? After all I'm a bargain-hunting demon at the supermarket. I know all the prices -- well, except for cleaning products, which I try to purchase as infrequently as possible. Housework is not my strong suit. After we checked in at the door, we were given those big yellow price tags with our names on them and escorted to our seats. When I go out with Sally, I usually insist on taking the aisle seat, but I couldn't this time. In order to keep the game running smoothly, you have to stay in your assigned seat. It wouldn't do to have someone "Come on down" and not be the one who hit the electronic keypad with the correct answer. I was not surprised that being left-handed handicapped me from the start. Each seat has the keypad attached on the right side of their seat. While the wire was long enough to place it on my lap within striking...
