Wow … thank you everyone for all of your feedback on my last column about the grass not always being greener.
I was laughing because I got a text from a friend saying how she hates the way her husband chews his food, too, and I got an e-mail about how funny it is that I hate it when my hubby slaps my hand every time I use hand gestures while talking. I promised him I wouldn’t tell too many more quirks of his, but this had to come out: When he makes homemade pizza with bread he doesn’t call it pizza, instead he calls it “bread, cheese and sauce.” Anyway, after sharing my reactions to my article with my hubby, he thought it was appropriate for me to tell you some of the annoying things I have done that he still loves to remind me about.
Like the time I paid for professional portraits from a guy sitting in Value City and I never signed up for my appointment, and, yes, they went out of business. Or the time I paid money for foundmoney.com and never used it up. Or the time I bought purses from Hawaii that I just had to have, but still haven’t used them and it’s been seven years.
Basically I am a sucker buyer. There, I said it. I will buy anything or try anything if it sounds good. I’m sure at least some of you can relate and have a good laugh about this.
Speaking of laughing, what better way to really know that we all have so much in common than to watch a comedy show? We can all relate when a comedian is talking about bad drivers or drunks, or annoying customers, etc. A comedian could talk about his experiences in the bathroom and we would all crack up.
The point is that we are all human and we are all in unique situations. But for the most part we all experience similar things at different points in our lives. Isn’t that great to know? I mean, no matter how unique or random your situation feels like, there is someone out there who can help you, relate to you, support you.
It has always been interesting to me how we can be so different in our personality, our political views and even our fashion style, but we are all human and have a lot in common when it comes to health or dating, or even job hunting. So don’t be afraid to speak up and talk about your issues and experiences. Whether they are positive, negative, exciting, or somewhat depressing, always remember that there is someone else out there who may have been through the same thing. If you find the courage to open up you will see that you have supporters all around you waiting to help you realize that you are not alone.
Whitney’s Radar
Don’t you wish there was a local place that you could get professional consultations for all aspects of skin care and get taken care of by experts who know how to personalize medical treatments to the specific needs of your body? Well you can stop wishing; Accent Aesthetics Spa, located in the same building as Tilton Fitness in Galloway, is right in our own backyards and they not only offer medical-grade skin-care treatments but they also offer relaxing massage and typical spa treatments as well.
Dr. Nicola Delorio is the owner of this remarkable place and has many years of experience as well as knowledge in her field. Currently she is the chief of the division of otolaryngology at Shore Memorial Hospital and is board certified in facial plastic surgery and otolaryngology.
Additionally, she holds certification in Botox, Restylane, Juvaderm, Sculptra and a comprehensive array of laser treatments. I was fortunate enough to do an interview with her recently and she informed me that her spa is probably the only one in the tri-state area that is a true medical spa. On top of the variety of services she offers, Dr. Delorio also offers parties that range from the typical spa party where you can relax and be pampered to a Botox party if that is your thing. Another piece of information that I found interesting is that men are also taking advantage of the spa services offered, so much so that Dr. Delorio has designated two waiting rooms, one for men and one for women. When you get to the back where the retail store is located you will see box shelving with all medical-grade skin care products for purchase, however, you need a prescription for most of them. I can tell just my looking at them that they are all quality products. One of the neat products offered is called Latisse, which helps improve the growth of your eyelashes. How cool is that? My hubby is in the field and he can attest that it does truly work. This medical spa is truly a gem in our area; stop in sometime to see what it’s all about. But first, check out the acweekly.com video page for a tour of the facility.
