We knew that last week's special 35th Anniversary issue would be a tough act to follow, but it didn’t prevent us from putting together a bunch of great stuff for this week’s paper.

First, I’d like to thank everybody who came out and celebrated this publication’s anniversary Wednesday (Nov. 11) at The Pool at Harrah’s. Additionally, a shout deserves to go out to all who contributed to last week’s issue — the writers, photographers, readers, interviewees and, last but not least, the AC Weekly interns. (Check online for a mini-documentary video on the 35th anniversary of the paper at acweekly.com.)

In this week’s cover story, Mike Pritchard tells the tale of the marathon that almost wasn’t and how it was resurrected just a day after word spread that the 50-year-old Atlantic City event was to be cancelled.

Meanwhile, AC Weekly contributor Ed Condran speaks with Who frontman Roger Daltrey in advance of his two-night stand at the Borgata this weekend, long-time movie critic Lori Hoffman reviews the horror flick Paranormal Activity as well as the star-studded comedy The Men Who Stare at Goats and Ray Schweibert touts Planet Rose’s fifth birthday at The Quarter at Tropicana.

As promised, all of the local listings that didn’t appear in last week’s retro-themed issue are back this week.

Also, columnists David Spatz and Frank Gabriel return to their regular posts offering information about the holiday shows in casino town and the man behind EHT’s East Bay Crab & Grille.

Last weekend was an action-packed, celebrity-filled and mighty tasty one in Atlantic City. Over at The Pier Shops at Caesars, Eleganza held a fashion show and a fashion themed weekend, which drew a nice crowd to see the latest Italian fashions.

Meanwhile, over at The Borgata, the property’s Savor Borgata event was held again — for its second consecutive year — packing The Water Club with 700 guests who wined and dined on special creations by Borgata chefs, including Wolfgang Puck, Stephen Kalt, Bobby Flay, Michael Mina and Geoffrey Zakarian.

You can see pics from both events on our blog and video from Savor Borgata.

Finally, Ocean City is looking for musicians of a very particular type for an unusual concert this Saturday. Nov. 14, at the Music Pier on the Boardwalk. Yes, the World’s Only Wind Chimes Band is looking for members. Prospective chimers can show up at the 11am concert and audition. “Members will be signed up on the spot if they qualify,” says Ocean City PR guru Mark Soifer. “To qualify the applicant must bring a wind chime, be able to hold it above his or her chest and shake it so that it makes a tinkling sound. If successful, they will be invited to participate in Saturday’s concert and at the band’s future performances.”

The World’s First Pin Dropping Challenge will follow the concert.
