The following are comments we’ve received in the last week in relation to articles that appeared in our Nov. 26, 2009 edition in print and online. Some of the following have been e-mailed by readers, others left as comments on our Web site; one is a response from one of our editors. As always, we encourage our readers to become a part of the discussion and send us their thoughts, views and opinions. Some of the following comments have been edited for space and clarity.

(From “Pinky’s Corner”: ‘It’s About Time’)

“Jeff- Pinky Kravitz is right on in his admonition that “it’s about time” that decrepit buildings be demolished. As the President of The Enclave Condominiums I can tell you that our residents are appalled at the lack of city response to our request for demolition of Seashore Gardens and the Marine Apts. These eyesores, just at the beginning of the residential zone, give the wrong message to residents and visitors alike. This is not just an Enclave problem. It’s a city problem. I want to urge the AC Weekly to editorialize on this need and to continue to put pressure on city officials to clean up this vital section of the city.” — Stuart Alperin

“Pinky: As a resident of Atlantic City and Philadelphia I always read your column and love it; it makes me feel like I’m in the know. Wish I had the time to comment more often but we are out here reading!” — Lillian

“I purchased a beach block lot on Seedorf Lane. I cannot wait for that decrepit seashore house to come down. At that time I will build my dream retirement home in Atlantic City. Pinky, as the saying goes, ‘I can live anywhere, but I like it here.’” — Arnie

(From “This Week”: ‘Dylan Does it Again’)

“Thanks for this thought-provoking article. Here’s a thumbs-up to Mr. Dylan and all those who have the initiative to exercise a little creativity in the holiday album context, rather than the endless string of cookie-cutter CDs we too often see. The LawTunes salute such efforts, and seek to follow in even a small way in such footsteps, as evidenced by our latest lawyer holiday gift album, Season’s Briefings From The LawTunes. You can hear clips at www.LawTunes.com. Thanks again for the interesting story on this remarkable individual.” — band@lawtunes.com

“You’re right as they say in the north of England, ‘Canny lad that Bob Dylan,’ makes you THINK.” — Ray, from the U.K.

(From the “Under the Boardwalk” feature by Lori Hoffman on A.C.’s Boardwalk cat program.)

“Yes, there are idiots who don’t spay/neuter their cats. These might be the same people that post very negative unsubstantiated posts on the Web. If it weren’t for groups such as Alley Cat Allies, the problem would be much worse.” — Gerard

“I find the passion on both sides of this issue interesting. Two hundred cats along six miles of Boardwalk is a pretty low number; the program is working. The seagulls are much more intrusive, but we don’t call for them to be trapped and euthanized. Both of my cats were kittens left to fend for themselves at my apartment complex. Most people take care of their pets. For the people who can’t or won’t, we need organizations like Alley Cat Allies.” — Lori Hoffman

“Being the co-founder of a Nationally-known rescue organization in the Mid-West, prior to moving to the East Coast this summer.... and spending the last 10 years doing mainly cat rescue, I can tell you first hand how organizations like Alley Cat Allies truly work. The statistics are amazing when it comes to what happens with unaltered cats -- A single pair of unspayed/unneutered cats and their offspring can produce as many as 420,000 kittens in just 7 years. Keep up the good work, Alley Cat! I applaud you!”
