Labor Day weekend is just about here and the summer may be over for some, but for us Atlantic City-area folk the party doesn’t end.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Howard Weiss, the regional director of nightlife operations and strategy development at Caesars Entertainment. Caesars Entertainment embodies some of the hippest places to party and dance including the celebrity hot spot, “The Pool After Dark” at Harrah’s Resort and the Foundation Room, which is a chic ultra lounge located inside the Showboat Casino Hotel.
According to Weiss, the Pool is different than any of the other venue in town because it has two identities. It’s a pool by day, and a nightclub by night.
I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing both aspects.
Daytime at the Pool — especially in the winter months — is a real treat because it’s housed under a 90-foot dome so there’s never a bad time to lay out and the temperature is always perfect.
Nighttime during club hours is especially cool because the place is packed, the music is bangin’ and there is usually a celebrity occupying one of the cabanas. Current hours for the nightclub are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10pm-4am.
One of Weiss’ responsibilities is to make people aware of some of the other 20 or so venues — such as Dusk at Caesars, for example — that fit into his lounge/bar portfolio in Atlantic City. For example, Bally’s (which, along with the Showboat, Harrah’s Resort and Caesars are owned by Caesars Entertainment) has many great places to hang out and have fun.
One in particular is Mainstage, which is located inside of Bally’s Wild Wild West. There you can ride a mechanical bull, play beer pong and hear live music. Plus it’s surrounded by a gaming pit. In Atlantic City there aren’t too many places where you can ride a bull, let alone inside a casino.
The Foundation Room at Showboat, which is one of my favorite places, really lives up to its reputation. This ultra lounge houses some of the coolest interior decor in town and features DJ sets every Thursday and Saturday nights. Plus the biggest advantage of coming here is their outside deck that overlooks the beautiful Boardwalk and ocean.
Now you can even reserve a hookah at the Foundation Room! It is the only destination here in Atlantic City that offers hookah service (for tobacco).
Although it is open to the public, you can still become an exclusive member of the Foundation Room club, which includes special perks such as discounts on spa treatments, show tickets, golf outings, invitations to private events and more.
The possibilities for fun in Atlantic City are endless, but thanks to Weiss, we will start recognizing and finding many more exciting places to go. See you at the clubs!
