Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City and Nederlander Worldwide Productions announced today that the smash Broadway hit “Jersey Boy, the Story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons” will come to Sound Waves from June 25 to July 21.
Hard Rock, which has been including musical theater acts such as last year’s “Rock of Ages” and the upcoming “Kinky Boots” into its list of headlining acts, made the announcement in dramatic fashion underneath the enormous crystal guitar-shaped chandelier in their atrium, with cast members from the current touring group making their entrance from atop the seemingly mile-high elevator and then performing songs from the show including “Sherry,” “December ’63 (Oh, What a Night),” “Who Loves You,” and “Can’t Take my Eyes Off You.”
President of Hard Rock Atlantic City Joe Lupo was on hand to welcome the crowd and introduce the performers, as well as Bob Nederlander Jr. of Nederlander Worldwide Productions, and the man about whom the musical is based, Frankie Valli.
Valli, who appears at Hard Rock tonight and tomorrow, made a special appearance at the press conference, and asked the crowd who’s seen either the musical and movie versions of the hit show. Most cheered, indicating that they had. Then he asked who had never seen it. A few admitted they had not. He jokingly said to Lupo, “Get their names.”
Nederlander could not contain his excitement at this budding partnership saying, “This is a first for us and it’s a first for Hard Rock. We are just thrilled.”
“Jersey Boys, the Story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons,” won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2006. It was made into a movie directed by Clint Eastwood in 2014. The show is the 12th longest-running show in Broadway history. “Jersey Boys” will have a six-week run at Hard Rock.
Tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 11, with pre-sale tickets on sale today. For more info, go to HardRockHotelAtlanticCity.com.
