Last year’s most exciting and wildly fun fundraiser — Dancing Under the Atlantic City Stars — was an overwhelming success for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey — Southern Branch. The event sold out in an amount of time unprecedented for this area and was the biggest single-day fundraiser that the FoodBank has ever seen.
It returns this year to Hard Rock Atlantic City on Nov. 2, bringing with it 12 new “celebrity dancers” and their talented professional partners. Each week from now until the week of the event, Atlantic City Weekly will feature one of our dancing couples.
Couple No. 3 is Leonard Rosenthol and Kim Pacitti.
Leonard Rosenthol, Senior Principal Architect for PDF with Adobe
Leonard Rosenthol has a job that takes him around the world. As the senior principal architect for PDF with Adobe, he works closely with international governments and industries. Since his job enables him to live anywhere, he made the choice a few years ago to make his home in South Jersey, and relocated there from the Philadelphia suburbs. Leonard and his wife Marla are very active in Jewish communities, including Jewish Family Services and the synagogues of Margate, Ventnor and Atlantic City. While doing the Jewish mitzvah of repairing the world, they met Renate Taylor-Raphael who introduced them to the Community FoodBank of NJ and its mission. This led to Leonard putting on his dancing shoes to feed the hungry families of our community. When not traveling, Leonard and Marla can be found almost daily at the Margate JCC training for their next triathlon or at Greate Bay practicing their ballroom dancing. They have three daughters, all of whom live in the New York City area.
Kim Pacitti, esthetician and retired professional dancer
Kim Pacitti began her professional dancing career on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line after graduating high school. She then spent several years performing at Merv Griffin Resorts as lead dancer. She continued her dance career in Las Vegas, performing in the world famous Follies Bergere. Kim’s dance career also took her touring through Europe, Japan and back to the U.S. where she danced and sang backup for Legends in Concert. Kim currently shares the lead vocal role with her husband and fellow DUTACS pro dancer Carol Maccri in her band Sidestory.
Kim says, “It fills my soul to share my passion for dance with audience members, dance partners and my family. I am honored to be asked back to perform again in the second-annual Dancing Under the Atlantic City stars and am humbled by my colleagues and friends who give so much of themselves for this event. I am grateful for the opportunity to help feed this community.”
