The Village People

Resorts Casino Hotel has just announced a weekend of festivities in honor of its 40 years of gaming. The celebration runs from Friday to Monday, May 25 to 28, a commemoration of Resorts as the first casino-hotel in A.C.

Events on Friday include a live radio broadcast, giveaways, strolling boardwalk entertainment including the Philadelphia Mummers and an appearance by the Resorts’ Showgirls. A birthday cake will be sliced up for guests, and at 2 p.m. a “first roll of the dice” will take place on the casino floor, in remembrance of when gaming began in Resorts. Special gaming chips and Star Cards for reward members will also be rolled out for the weekend.

At 5 p.m. Friday, the annual Beach Ball Drop will take place on the boardwalk, after which the party will continue inside at Bar One, where a cocktail hour inspired by Resorts’ 40 years in business will be featured.

On Saturday, the Village People will perform at the Superstar Theater at 8 p.m.

“We are thrilled to kick off our anniversary celebration with an outstanding performance and summer event lineup; however, more importantly, honor our guests and employees who supported Resorts and the evolution of Atlantic City over the past 40 years,” said President and CEO of Resorts Casino Hotel, Mark Giannantonio. “It is a privilege to be a part of the creation of gaming in Atlantic City, taking it from a small gambling town in 1978 to what it is today — a multi-faceted industry providing countless visitors with first-class retail, dining and entertainment experiences. Our 40th anniversary is a celebration of Resorts’ success, and we look forward to commemorating this exciting time in our history by hosting three months of can’t-miss entertainment and promotions.”
