After many months of delays, the Observation Wheel is finally open on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. The wheel, which is located on the Steel Pier and stands at a towering 227 feet, was scheduled to open in the fall, but delays in building the deck took longer than expected.
The cost to build and install the wheel totaled $14 million. The ride — along with the opening of Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City — is expected to bring much-needed traffic to the north end of the Boardwalk.
Unlike many amusement style rides, a spin on the Observation Wheel will last a while — 16 minutes to be exact. Cost per person will be $15 for adults and $12 for kids.
Although it is considered a year-round attraction, the wheel will not operate if the temperature dips below 40 degrees. The ride is open Tuesdays through Sundays.
